Early Life and Education:

A very interesting fact about Chahal is that he was the first Indian cricketer to represent the country in both chess and cricket. He initially started playing as a medium-fast bowler but later honed his skills as a leg-spinner. He credits chess for improving his patience, temperament, and ability to read the batsman’s mind. Inspired by the legendary Shane Warne, Chahal made his first-class debut in November 2009.

Yuzvendra Chahal’s Jersey Number is #3. Chahal joined the Mumbai Indians in 2011 for the IPL. He played only one IPL game in three seasons. He played all matches in the 2011 Champions League Twenty20. In the final, he helped the Mumbai Indians win by taking 2 wickets for 9 runs. In 2014, he was bought by Royal Challengers Bangalore for ₹10 lakh. He won the Man of the Match award against Delhi Daredevils in the IPL 2014. International Career:

He was chosen for the 14-member squad for the Zimbabwe tour in 2016. He played his first One Day International (ODI) match against Zimbabwe on June 11, 2016, and got his first wicket, Richmond Mutumbami. In his second match, he took three wickets and helped his team win. He made his Twenty20 International (T20I) debut against Zimbabwe on June 18, 2016, and took his first T20I wicket, Malcolm Waller. On February 1, 2017, he became the first Indian bowler to take five wickets in a T20I match against England. He took the most wickets (23) in T20Is in 2017 by any bowler. 

He achieved his second 5-wicket haul in ODIs against Australia on January 18, 2019. In April 2019, he was named in India’s squad for the 2019 Cricket World Cup and ended the tournament with 12 wickets. In December 2020, he replaced Ravindra Jadeja in a T20I match due to a concussion and was named the man of the match. He reached the milestone of 100 wickets in ODI cricket in February 2022. In April 2024, he became the first player in IPL history to take 200 wickets.

Chahal played for three teams in the IPL – Mumbai Indianjerseyal Challengers Bangalore, and Rajasthan Royals.

Mumbai Indians: Chahal played for Mumbai Indians from 2011 to 2013.

RCB: Chahal played for Royal Challengers Bangalore from 2014 to 2021. He played in the 2016 IPL Final, but RCB lost the match by 8 runs.
